Her Excellency, Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel today commissioned a tastefully furnished bungalow for a widow with two children Madam Glory Monday John in Abak Ikot Village, Abak Local Government Area to commemorate her 52nd Birthday.


Speaking during the inauguration, the governor’s wife who was full of praise and appreciation to God for sparing her life to celebrate her birthday with the widow said her vision for providing houses for the indigent members of the society was divinely ordained.


She pointed out that beneficiaries of the Shelter of Hope were not selected on sentiments, but rather inspired by the Holy Spirit, stating that houses are strategically spread across the state.


“It is not a coincidence that I am celebrating my birthday today with this widow who hitherto lived in ruins but today, she has been blessed with a very fine and comfortable apartment. God had already planned this day and I am happy that I am only a vessel fulfilling His calling,” the first lady enthused.


Mrs. Emmanuel added that with the number 62 house delivered, she was optimistic that more will be built even after she leaves office as governor’s wife in 2023. In a very unique way of celebrating her day, Dr. Emmanuel further gave out wrappers to 100 widows from the local government area.


In her appreciation, the widow and beneficiary, Madam Glory Monday John, thanked God Almighty for using the governor’s wife to change her pitiable story for good shelter, describing it as a dream come true for her.


Other speakers at the event included the Coordinator of FEYReP, Mrs. Ime Inyang who wished the first lady a rewarding birthday celebration, while appreciating her for giving out herself to serve humanity in a very special way


and prayed God to sustain her and the Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Ekerete Inyang who welcomed the first Lady to his domain, expressing delight whilst donating handsomely to support the widow.


He also presented a birthday cake to the governor’s wife.
