Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel today received in audience members of the group led by the President, Lady (Mrs.) Blessing Ebong Uko, at Government House, Uyo.
Dr. Emmanuel, applauded the group, stating that she has been following the activities of the group in the social space and has been noting how the group and it’s members touch lives, in providing selfless services to their immediate society.
On her advocacy against rape and gender based violence, she solicited their support in spreading the message on crimes committed against women.
She also stated that though a lot of achievements have been recorded in recent past in fighting gender based violence, there is still a lot to be done in winning the fight against rape and other gender based crimes.
Mrs. Uko in her speech listed the various activities carried out by the group under her leadership, while commending the governor’s wife for her passion and commitment towards improving the lives of women, the elderly, youths and children in the state through her pet project FEYReP.
According to Mrs Uko, the purpose of the visit was to show solidarity and loyalty to the governor’s wife who she said is the leader of the group and as well made a presentation of 100 wrappers to support her work.
